Virality is not talent, it is preparation meeting distribution. Most creators fail before they ever press record. This checklist exists to remove friction, not add rules. If your video fails, it will not be because you forgot a transition. It will be because you ignored the fundamentals that compound attention.
Write a script or shot list.
Define the goal of your content (entertain, educate, inspire, etc)
Plan a strong hook to grab attention in the first few seconds
Choose a dynamic, visually interesting background
Ensure you’re filming in vertical format (9:16)
Check that your framing is centered and key elements aren’t cut off
Use natural light or a lighting prop
Make sure you're not backlit - the light should be facing you, lighting
Ensure your phone or camera is fully charged
Free up enough storage space for filming
Clean your camera lens
Check that your video settings (resolution, frame rate) are correct
Make sure any external microphones are connected
After you are done editing the video, rewatch the video and analyze it with these questions:
Is this visual?
Is the idea unique?
Is the TAM (Total Addressable Market) big enough?
Does it make sense?
Is it captivating?
Is it entertaining or boring?
Does the viewer learn anything?
What emotion did they feel?
Does the story have a “but therefore” conflict
Ask yourself, does your video have all the following hooks:
Visual Hook?
Sound Hook?
Audio Hook?
Text Hook?
Viral videos are not accidents; they are engineered.
Every missed detail compounds into lower retention.
Every prepared decision compounds into trust and attention.
You do not need better ideas; you need better systems.
Follow this checklist long enough, and virality stops feeling random.
